Sheltering those that are homeless in extreme cold temperatures is the service we provide in our Winter Outreach program. Men, women, boys and girls are able to find warmth and safety from bitterly cold temperatures. Our overnight guest are provided with the facilities to take hot showers, a hot meal, clean clothing, a warm bed and loving care from our volunteers.
The Missouri Housing Development Commission Continuum of Care Survey 2017 reported 27% of the families in the St Louis city area earn below the median income level of $36,000. Additionally, the city of St Louis reported 945 homeless individuals. Homeless shelters are often overwhelmed with requests, especially during extreme cold temperatures.
As an organization, our agency partners with Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, the Winter Outreach Network and other organizations to feed, shelter, and serve the unhoused (homeless) population when the temperature gets too cold in the winter. ( We provide showers, clean clothes and underwear.) We also feed and serve the unhoused in the summer months. In order to provide clean clothes the church has installed a laundry room that washes clothes for the unhoused for free.
